Jonny Tobin is a GRAMMY-nominated, multi award-winning keys player, producer, and beatmaker based in Canada. His tunes have been transmitted through the underground radio waves all over the world, and his keys and production have graced tracks from independent artists like NYC-based Sarah Kang to acclaimed electronic producer Trian Kayhatu to breakout hip-hop artist D. Smoke.

Jonny’s original music is inspired by the sounds and feelings of hip-hop, electronic music, Saturday morning cartoon/cereal combos, pixelated 90’s video games, and 3AM drives. It’s familiar, funky, and futuristic – giving a sense of deja vu while crafting a forward-thinking and trippy sound.

Since releasing his first album “Psychedelicate” in 2019, his original tracks have received radio play in Europe, the UK, and the US, by underground tastemakers and soulheads alike. Multiple releases have been playlisted on official Spotify curated playlists including Fresh Finds, Just Vibin, Next Wave Neo Soul, New Music Friday, Rhythm and Groove by DJ Taro, and Jazztronica. In 2019 Jonny’s music was featured on “Feeding U New Knocks Vol. 2”, a vinyl release by the MORE BOUNCE Collective alongside internationally-acclaimed funk artists like Temu, Daniel Crawford, Otis McDonald, and Sivey.

 

 

 

Jonny’s third release “Weekends” (released on Amsterdam-based label Wicked Wax) has been described as a “lush soundtrack to a sun-drenched weekend”. Filled with soulful guest features and a jolt of additional production from AstroLogical (one half of Potatohead People), it’s 8 tracks of pure joy.
